After the worst night of the entire trip so far, we all dragged ourselves out of bed just before 8 to get ready to hit the road. The room next to ours had the noisiest group of Indian men partying on until 4am which kept us awake; “G” even went next door and asked them to keep the noise down at around 3am as we’d had enough! And to top it off, “R” was up from about 2am vomiting consistently every hour until the morning – we suspect it was food poisoning from his fish the night before.
Needless to say, we were all a bit lacklustre getting ready to leave this morning, contemplating whether or not we should be making the 6hr drive with a sick child. Like all good parents, we visited the pharmacy, drugged him up and hit the road. Thankfully, the drugs worked and “R” had an uneventful drive to Exmouth though he did sleep quite a lot. We only stopped once briefly at the Nunaturra Roadhouse for fuel and a loo break.
We arrived in Exmouth around 3pm and as “R” wasn’t feeling well still, we just had a restful afternoon in our cabin. “L” and “A” did venture across the road to the visitor centre to get some info, a quick drive to fill up the car and also went for a walk around the caravan park before “L” jumped in the pool for a quick dip. “G” and “R” stayed home to have a sleep.
We opted for home cooked fried rice for dinner as tomorrow is our exciting whale shark adventure ….. if “R” is well enough.
