Lake Argyle – Kununurra

We didn’t have very far to drive today!! As we left Lake Argyle, we briefly called past the Durack Homestead Museum for a quick look. The homestead is quite a pretty re-built stone building, the original homestead would be under Lake Argyle somewhere!!

On to Kununurra to visit the Saturday morning markets. Nothing that really took our fancy except for mango smoothie for “L” and milkshake for “R”. It seemed to us that the markets are more of a community coming together event rather than actual markets. Across the road was the Information Centre and Penney’s Prints so we checked both of those out and went for a walk through town to find “G” a coffee.

Off we ventured to Ivanhoe Crossing which was very cool to watch as various cars (4WDs!) drove back and forth. One local did warn us to keep the kids well away from the edge (which we were anyway) as a little dog had been taken by a croc the day before eeeek. “G” did joke about Katie the Kia going over the crossing, what a funny bloke he is.

Back in town and we hit the Kununurra Hotel for lunch before going to our hotel and enjoying the cold pool until we could check in. After we checked in and unloaded our stuff, we hit the pool again and did a quick load of washing. This evening we went to the restaurant on-site for dinner though it was a little cool sitting outside so we didn’t last too long, we’ve been spoilt with the warmer weather of the NT I think! We are now relaxing back in our room watching Despicable Me 2 on TV.
