Darwin (Day 4)

This morning we ventured out to the WWII Oil Storage Tunnels, which it turns out we could’ve done yesterday because none of it is outside after all! Can’t say we were overly impressed, the information was interesting but we were over and done with within half an hour.

We ventured on to the Museum and Art Gallery (MAGNT) which was really good. We got ushered into a special workshop for kids when we first arrived but after we got the “run down” on the workshop which included creating (with craft) a new made up animal which we would then work out the latin name for their features, we decided to pull the “tight timeframe” card. The boys faces of relief were gold. MAGNT have a really impressive set up and had lots of different sections to explore which was really great including full size ships, various art and a well laid out natural museum. We spent a couple of hours looking around everything before having lunch at the cafe onsite.

After lunch, we went for a drive around the suburbs and to check out where “A” lived when she was little. We then headed down to Lee Point for a look around. Although there was a nice breeze, the sun had a real bite to it so we didn’t hang around too long before we headed back to our apartment.

At 3pm, we met up with a friend (Monique) and her new (well, she’s 6mths old now!) baby (Remy) who is absolutely adorable. We enjoyed a really lovely afternoon tea at Foreshore Cafe and spent an hour and a half admiring Remy and having a great chat with Monique. It was soooo great to see them both and have a giggle at how quickly time flies.

Back at our apartment, we went for a quick swim before cooking fried rice for dinner and indulging in room service dessert. Tonight is movie watching, washing clothes and packing bags ready for our departure tomorrow.
