Kings Canyon – Alice Springs

This morning we met for our buffet breakfast before parting ways with Nan and Gramps as they are headed off toward SA. We stopped at the Kings Canyon carpark to do the final walk of the area – the Kings Creek walk, an easy 2km return walk at the base of the canyon which we completed in about 30mins.

On the road, we made our way to Alice Springs, once again appreciating the 130kmh speed limit in the NT and thankfully no crazy drivers! We stopped at Erldunda Roadhouse to fill up with fuel at a whopping $2.69/L and have a look at the emus that they have there. Back on the road and it was an easy drive to Alice Springs arriving around 2pm.

Alice Springs

As our cabin wasn’t ready at the Caravan Park, we headed into town to get our early vote out of the way as this is the first location that has early voting available. By the time we had voted and taken a short drive through town, we had a phonecall to let us know our cabin was ready so we headed back to the Caravan Park to check in. Our cabin has 2 bedrooms which is a lot nicer than sharing the same room as we had done at Kings Canyon.

After unloading the car, we had a little relax and walked around the caravan park checking out the pools, games room, sunset lookout etc. Back at our room and it was now after 5pm so we decided to catch up on last nights Lego Masters final and cook some pasta for dinner before walking to the strawberry van to collect dessert to enjoy whilst watching the finale of Lego Masters. “G” and “A” had chocolate mousse, “L” had strawberry mousse and “R” had pancakes with icecream, cream and strawberries.

A relaxing night in front of the TV and catching up on blog writing tonight.
