Bit of a miserable day weather-wise today with rain most of the day and otherwise very cloudy and cold. This morning we ventured out to check out Ceduna itself and have a look along the coastline. We went to Pinky Point lookout which is close to an industrial area with big piles of gypsum and salt which had been mined and were ready for loading onto the train, which we also saw. We also visited the Puckridge Rock Jetty where we saw (and heard) a form of seagull (not sure exactly what they were) but they made the funniest noises 😀

A little further along the foreshore and then through town which was quite deserted due to the weather and the fact that everything is closed due to it being ANZAC Day. Off to the hospital we went for removal of “A’s” stitches, quite an experience that was and not sure I’d have much faith rushing there with any life threatening emergency today!! Pleased to report that the stitches have been successfully removed and the thumb is well on the mend.
As it was pouring with rain by this stage we decided to visit the IGA to stock up on groceries and head back to our cabin for a relaxing “home” day. We got back to our cabin around midday and did some school work before having toasted sandwiches to warm us up for lunch. A bit more school work, rest (aka sleep for “G”) and general R&R took care of the rest of the afternoon. Pleased to report that Week 1 of school is now complete and clarinet practice has been done as we are well away from our closest neighbours here!

Later this afternoon the weather had cleared up so we went down to the beach in front of our cabin for a stroll as the sun went down. “L” had been very keen since this morning to venture out to the little sandbars that appear when the tide goes out. The beach is clearly named Shelly Beach for a reason as it is covered with shells once the tide goes out.

Back to our cabin for homemade fried rice for dinner and a lazy evening before we hit the road again tomorrow.

Thanks Uncle Bob and Auntie Joan, we are having a great time but unfortunately this three month trip ends tomorrow!! It has been a blast.
Sorry to hear about the fishing mishap but it looks like all is well with the thumb. You 3 look very studious doing the homework. It’s a pity the weather wasn’t good in Esperance because the beaches are stunning. You still managed some great pictures though. Enjoying the blog-best wishes on your adventures.
Thanks AC, the thumb is all good. Esperance weather was lovely, perhaps a little cold for a dip in the ocean but perfect to walk along the beaches. We have been really lucky with the weather so far, I was expecting today to be awful but it turned out ok which is great 🙂 A
