What a visual feast we had on our trip today!! The western half of the section between Border Village and Nullarbor has several stunning lookouts of the Great Australian Bight. The landscape in this part of Australia is absolutely stunning!! We were even lucky enough to see a raft of sea lions playing just offshore at one of the lookouts. We took quite a while to drive this relatively short distance due to our stops to admire the views.

At Nullarbor we picked up some sandwiches for lunch and were surprised at all the beware of snakes and dingo signs around the place! Back on the road about 10-20kms to the turnoff for Head of Bight which was another 12km down the road and it was really well worth the stop with a great boardwalk and lookout. The young guy who manned the station made a recommendation to head to the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel early to watch the sunset and enjoy a meal tonight so we kept that one in the back of our minds for later.

Next stop was Penong which had a really cool outdoor Windmill Museum boasting the largest windmill in Australia. We also ventured 15-20km down a gravel road to Lake Sinclair which actually was pink! Sadly, no drone footage as G’s phone had completely died for an unknown reason by this point. Another 5kms down the road was Port LeHunte Jetty which was pretty cool though sad to see a memorial to an 11yo who was fatally taken in a shark attack in 1975.

Our drive today was pretty good, lots of road trains heading westward and a few heading in our direction too. We were ushered off the road a couple of times to let some very oversized (wide) westbound vehicles past and did overtake one road train which was a whopping 49.7m long. We arrived at the quarantine station just outside Ceduna which I didn’t actually realise SA had, I thought only fresh fruit and veg couldn’t be taken into WA, not the other way around so we lost our tomatoes 😀 no big deal.
Arrived in Ceduna around 5pm; did I mention we stopped a lot to admire the scenery today!! Our eco shack at Ceduna Shelly Beach Caravan Park is stunning and we have amazing views to enjoy for the next two nights. The boys are very happy as their room has two sets of bunks so they both get to sleep on the top bunk. We headed into the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel to watch the sunset and enjoy dinner before heading back to our accommodation for the night.

G has now fixed his phone and is still confused as to why it froze. He is very happy he has a fix if it happens again and has now ensured A’s phone can be used as a backup if it goes crazy again.
More photos in the gallery and perhaps some drone footage tomorrow.
