Esperance & Foreshore

Today we spent the day exploring the town of Esperance a little more and generally enjoying the weather and scenery. Guess where we started the day ….

Morning Juice and Coffee

That’s right, Sir Juice and Coffee Cat with a walk along the Tanker Jetty.

After that we went for a long walk along the foreshore, admiring the scenery along the way and the various monuments, information plaques etc. About 2km down the foreshore is an Adventure Parkland which the boys thoroughly enjoyed. The favourite was a “really fast” slide which of course we all had to try and I must say, it was really fast!! There was also a climbing frame in the shape of a whale and a fun flying fox along with various other park equipment.

Once the boys had finished playing, we checked out some gardens near the port and then succumbed to L’s incessant requests to visit Aurelia’s Ice Creamery so ice-cream it was for morning tea! Once blood sugar levels were restored we headed back through town to check out the street art and museum gardens which were lovely.

Back at our apartment we had a quick break before grabbing the car and heading back into town for lunch at 33 Degrees as it was then about 12:30pm. 33 Degrees has two floors and offers amazing views over the foreshore from the upper level. We shared chicken wings, ribs, sweet potato fries and garlic bread which were all very tasty. After lunch we headed to the Cindy Poole Glass Art Gallery. Was a nice spot to visit and had some lovely glass jewelry should you ever need a special gift for someone but all in all, it was a pretty quick visit from us.

Off to Woolies for some supplies then to fill up the car before heading back to the apartment for a bit of R&R. After about an hour the boys were ready to hit the beach again (crazy kids) so we headed back along the foreshore to the swimming area of the beach which is safely enclosed by a shark net. The boys braved the freezing cold water and seaweed to swim out to the pontoon but were pretty much straight back again as the seagull poop on the pontoon really turned them off … and I suspect they were freezing.

We walked back through town via the post office then decided an early dinner was in order. We picked up fish and chips from Fish Face and took it back to our apartment to eat. Original intentions were to eat it on the foreshore but as we were all still in shorts and t-shirts and the boys were a bit chilly after their swim, we quickly changed plans. “G” & “R” had the daily special of local flake and chips, “A” had crumbed pink ling and “L” had crumbed prawns, squid and scallops which were all great.

After dinner it was time to enjoy one last spa bath before packing our bags as we leave Esperance tomorrow.
