Welcome to Day 2 and 3, a little combo of Albany delights. Do not be alarmed by the title, but you will have to wait till later in the post to find out why one of us needed the hospitality of the hospital, or correctly the “Albany Health Campus”.

Day 2 of our Trip, also known by many as Good Friday, started with breakfast and then when everyone was fed and ready for some adventure we headed to Middleton Beach (the main town beach). The tide had bought in some shells so the boys and Granny were examining them closely and working out if they were special enough to keep or take a photo to keep a memory. We (the parents) were strongly encouraging photo memories of shells as we do not fancy a collection of shells, rocks and other items on this trip!!
Lucas and Riley were brave enough to take off their shirts and have a paddle in the water. “A” was walking bare feet in the water but did note “it was fresh”. G was still wearing his hoody so had not started the reckless holiday spirit yet! After a long stroll on the beach we headed up to the boardwalk for a higher view and a bit of nature spotting.

We headed back to Grannys for lunch of toasted sandwiches and then in the afternoon with the sun shining the boys and A went to the empty block across the road for a play. Later A had a bit of book reading time, G a much needed nap and the boys went to do craft with Granny in the magical craft room.
A managed to get a nice bee video shared below:

Dinner was Fish and Chips from the local store and we finished off the night watching the movie “Home” and a bit of “Hop” for the boys as they headed to bed. A&G were caught up in Hop so had to wait till the end then headed to bed for a big sleep.
Day 3 – Saturday
The day started with the boys and Granny taking Shadow for a walk. G&A checked the “Fuel Map” for the cheapest fuel in town (thanks to our well travelled friends who recommended this app). G&A headed to the local shops for a few supplies including some prawns for bait and to fill up with fuel .
We (GARL and Granny) headed to Emu Point for a bit of “crabbing” by the boys and A cast out a line looking for whiting (or any other fish that came her way). G was busy tying knots, and providing some “general fishing support” duties.

G went to the cafe to order a coffee and some hot chocolates, but seeing some 30 people in front of him, decided ordering a bit later might be the go. He went back and placed the orders around 11:00 and was told it was a 30 minute wait so placed the orders and came back to check out the fish A had caught. By this time 6 Herring (a couple thrown back and one escaped after capture) had been caught. R&L were now onto fishing rather than crabbing and Granny was sitting in the shade watching the action happen.
G went back to the cafe to pick up the drinks and was waiting along with some other 10 people for their coffees ordered 20 minutes prior when Riley came over and explained that A had cut herself while filleting the fish and said she would need stitches so G needed to come back!
A quick gather up of belongings, a drive to the hospital to drop off A and then a drive back to Granny’s to drop off everyone else. G headed back to the hospital but with long waits, COVID restrictions etc he headed back to Granny’s to wait for A’s messages that were coming through with regular updates.
“A” required two stitches to her sliced finger along with a tetanus shot, the filleting knife appears to have gone halfway through her left thumb including through her nail. She had a little “near-fainty” moment as they injected some anaesthetic into her finger but is now all fixed up for the next few days. A trip to Esperance hospital is now required to check on her nail as it may need to be removed.

This has led to an afternoon of a bit of school work for R&L and then a movie so we all could relax. Dinner was Spaghetti Bolognese with some tv watching for the boys, bed for them and now some Blog writing.

GEEZUS luv, what day are you on???!!? (Such a dear diary moment! 😂) To be fair well done for attempting the filleting though… I hand that stuff straight to Phil 🤗😂 xx
Ps hope you’re ok xxx
Mmmmm – so shells and rocks are not encouraged to be collected and kept along the way on the mighty adventure. I wonder – do opals come under that heading too when the time comes?????????? ha ha
