Well today we all enjoyed a lovely sleep in as the cabin bedrooms are lovely and dark with warm beds. Once we all had breakfast we headed off to the Airport.
Why the Airport, well “A” had done research and watched some very recent videos of the road into the Purnululu (Bungle Bungles) were very muddy/wet due to recent rains (so bad were the rains that up until a few days ago, Purnululu was CLOSED) and our thoughts of “Katie the KIA” getting in were dashed. So one plan was to see if we could hire a “real” 4WD.
Well the local guy at Budget rentals was awesome, not only did he manage to get us a 4WD and we are allowed to take it in to the all the areas we wanted to go, put in an extra spare tyre to be safe. He was super knowledgable about the park having done the trip himself during COVID times. He also made a quick call to his mate to see if there were any last minute accommodation cancellations and there was. So a quick visit to another office at the Airport and we now have a slightly modified plan to see the Bungle Bungles with a self drive in and two night stay at the Savannah resort which includes meals and a pool etc (yes doing it tough) and is right in the heart of Purnululu National Park.
This does mean we will leave “Katie” in Kununurra and have to do a quick drive back from the Bungle Bungles to Kununurra and back on the Saturday to swap vehicles back and then back to our original plans. A bit of a pain but one we think will be worthwhile.
This took best part of the morning, so we then headed back The Hoochery Distillery for lunch. We choose the Barra Tacos and Pulled Pork Sliders with “G” also trying a tasting paddle of Gin and Coffee/Chocolate liquor. “A” even tried the Coffee/Chocolate liquor and commented that it would be nice over icecream!!

After that we did a quick check out of the local aboriginal art gallery, zebra stone gallery, Sandalwood Factory and Kellys Knob Lookout. No purchases made at any of our stops, except for “G” getting some shaving gel from Sandalwood.
We did a bit of a shop, “G” had a rest while “ARL” went to check out the celebrity tree park and found “really famous” people had planted some like Mark McGowan and Grant Denyer!
After that it was a BBQ dinner and a bit of relax.
